Sponsorship Motivates Stepan to Succeed

Stepan is so thankful to his sponsors for helping him achieve his dream of becoming a mechanic.

 Stepan is 26 years old and comes from large family. When he was three, his father passed away and his mother Svitlana was left alone with four children. In 2003 Stepan was so excited to be chosen by a Chalice sponsor. Over the next 15 years, sponsorship offered tremendous support for his family, motivating him to do well at school.

When he was 14 Stepan went through a critical health issue resulting in a disabiltity to his leg. Stepan is so thankful for the support of his sponsors which helped him go through this very difficult time.

After high school graduation Stepan entered a trade school to become a mechanic. At that time his mother did not have a job and suffered from high blood pressure. Stepan was did very well at his studies and graduated with his Master of Industrial Education degree. Thanks to his high grades Stepan was sent to study at Kharkiv University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree. At this time his mother’s health condition worsened a great deal. So, he returned home to his village and got a part-time job fixing motorcycles and cars.

Now finished school, Stepan has retired from sponsorship and has moved to Poland in search of a better paying job. Last September he found his dream job as a car mechanic, his hard work was noticed and he was recently given a long term contract. Stepan is grateful for the years of his sponsorship with Chalice that helped him and his family overcome the most difficult times in his life.
